621VGS ran an AGT2/SCT U/T course between the 2009 Summer Scholarship courses.

With the Detachment to Portmoak cancelled at short notice this year, permission to operate an AGT2 course at Hullavington as an alternative was granted by HQAC.

After a successful first Summer Gliding Scholarship (GS)Course the hanger remained open for AGT and UT staff further their progress. Sadly the weather only allowed two of the junior staff to acheive 30min solos with poor soaring conditions throughout the week.

With more time being available than a normal weekend or GS course, the staff rattled through the Pre G2/G1 ground school tasks and each student gave a short lecture on a specified topic area during the morning briefing.

With FSC Ellie Nicholls being awarded her G1 at the end of the first course, cadets from the Summer Camp at RAF Lyneham were arranged for Gliding Induction Courses being flown by Ellie and by the course winch driver CGI Vicky Smith.

At the end of an enjoyable week everyone had achieved a great deal.

With no break 621VGS started the second Summer GS course. The course was hampered by the weather and to an extent by sharing the airfield with 625VGS, usually avoided during week courses. With 625s winch unserviceable for a day a joint operation saw eight aircraft flying 167 launches. Despite this the second summer course still managed to achieve success bringing to an end a busy summer for 621VGS.
