621 displays aircraft with 1446 Sqn

Viking displayed on Salthouse Fields in Clevedon

621 VGS exists in order to fly cadets on both Gliding Induction and Gliding Scholarship courses. Therefore it is important for the squadron to assist, where possible, the local cadet squadrons raise awareness of the Air Cadet organisation in the communities they serve.

On 13th September 621 VGS assisted 1446 Clevedon Squadron by taking an aircraft to an event on Clevedon seafront. The Marlens festival is an annual event to raise money for equipment for the community to use on Marine Lake, a tidal pool on the seafront.

1446 Squadron attended the event with the Regional Marquee and a display showing the activities the cadets undertake at or through the squadron. The Viking from 621 VGS helped attract a large number of people to the stand, raising the awareness of the Air Cadets amongst people local to Clevedon as well as visitors from Cornwall to Scotland. As Hullavington airfield was being used for another event, 621 VGS was unable operate for the weekend, and so was also able to provide a number of staff to assist. FSCs Rebecca Kwo and Harry Saunders spent the day helping people in and out of the aircraft and explaining the controls and instruments with CGIs Nev Cullingford, John Williams and Flying Officers Chris Williams and Phil Woods.
